Philadelphia's Magic Gardens :: gophila.com - The Official Visitor Site for Greater Philadelphia

My favorite "museum" by far. And tonight I just talked to the artist, Isaiah Zagar. Unfortunately, I interrupted his dinner. But it was still a short, delightful conversation.

What dedication it is to build such a PIECE OF ART!!! If you're ever in Philly on South Street, you must visit this enchanting building! When I came across it, I was just walking down my favorite eclectic, artistic, hang-about place to be!

This short video only gives you a small glimpse into the mind of Mr. Zagar! Tomorrow night I'm watching his movie, "In A Dream." I hear it's an invigorating, heart-felt documentary. I'll let you know!

PS: He does have a few sculptures of his version of Shiva. If you look close you can see Shiva in a short shot in this particular video!

Bolsters for Backs!

FEATURED PRODUCT

One item I cannot really live without! I use them with all my personal yoga clients & allow all clients to use them during class as desired. And this is how:

1) Position the bolster long ways right behind your back in the seated upright position. With knees bent, slowing lower your upper torso until your body is completely touching the bolster. As you begin your conscious breathing, begin to relax and let your back relax with your exhalation. As your back becomes more relaxed you will slowing lengthen your legs until straight but not locked. If you choose to engage and activate the asana, engage the thigh muscles & flex & stretch your toes (again, no locked knees)! Release when ready. You might then include some ujyaii breathing or just regular breaths to release any tension that is still remaining in the back. If you let your arms drop off to the side, your chest is expanded and breating is more OPEN & fluid! Follow with a whole breathing series if you'd like.

2) Extended relaxed child pose. With your knees apart, place the bolster between the legs and allow yourself to release into child's pose with the bolster holding the body up and you completely surrendered with a deep, slow exhalation.

These are my two favorites and during these poses I instantly become relaxed. I do slowly roll off the bolster sideways and lay on my side for at least a minute. No other pillow seems to work like a bolster.

If you have an opinion or question about the bolster, please make a comment. The audience would love to hear your feelings.

Namaste and let the weekend be your pleasure!
